Producing more of that energy domestically can help support supply security, reduce reliance on imported hydrocarbons and keep more economic value and employment in the UK. We are acquiring a majority interest in the Horse Hill oil field and the PEDL137 licence area, with the aim of restoring production and increasing field output over time.
Horse Hill lies within the Weald Basin, an established UK onshore hydrocarbon system. We see the field as a platform from which to access further oil and gas development opportunities in the wider basin, and potentially elsewhere in the UK.
Indigenous production can play an important role in a secure and balanced UK energy system, particularly while oil and gas continue by necessity to be used across the economy.
Horse Hill filed has a demonstrated production potential from multiple oil-bearing zones and provides a practical starting point for our UK onshore resource development strategy.
